Join the Butler County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council in partnership with YWCA Hamilton; Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC; Parachute Butler County; and Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Miami Regionals as we present the Third Annual Domestic Violence Summit to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Participants will deepen their understanding of the profound impact domestic violence has on survivors (both adults and children) and first responders. They will gain valuable insights and practical strategies for partnering with law enforcement to provide trauma-informed care and approaches that prioritize safety and healing. Retired Nashville police officer Mark Wynn will be the keynote speaker. He will share his personal story of not only surviving domestic violence but also dedicating his life to creating better responses to domestic violence incidents. Wynn committed his career to ending violence by working as a police officer, detective, educator, and consultant. Participants will also hear from Rachel Ramirez, director of Health and Disability Programs and founder of the Center on Partner-Inflicted Brain Injury at The Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Ramirez will share her amazing research and information on the impacts of strangulation on the brain. No RSVP is required.
