Randy Young, President of Aglamesis Bros. Inc., is the stepson of James Aglamesis, who was the oldest son of the founder Thomas Aglamesis. Randy joined the family business after graduating from the Ohio State University with a degree in Music Education in 1976. He started out in the business when he was 10 years old at the invitation of his stepdad to come and “help out” in the ice cream, candy store. It didn’t take too much convincing for him to want to come in and help out. What kid that age wouldn’t have taken up such an offer. Throughout his school years, Randy continued to “help out” and gravitated to working mostly in the back of the house where the products are made. It was this creative part of the business Randy fell in love with. Randy’s other passion was music. Against his dad’s wishes, Randy pursued a career as a music teacher. Upon graduating, his mother convinced him to come into the family business.
Randy continued his musical interests outside of the business by playing professionally for 10 years after graduation while maintaining his “day job”.
In 1981 Randy left the business to pursue an opportunity in Dayton, Ohio and later started his own ice cream and candy operation in 1983. Randy came back into the family business in 1986 and worked both in Dayton and Cincinnati until he closed his operation in Dayton in 1994.
