The Chamber's Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, January 26 at Spooky Nook Champion Mill Conference Center. This important event includes the welcoming of new Board members and officers and the presentation of the 2023 Citizen of the Year Award to Taylor Stone-Welch and the 2023 Small Business Person of the Year Award to Roland Lutz, Riverside Athletic Club.  

The keynote speaker is Samantha Briggs, City of Hamilton Firefighter and CrossFit Champion.

Samantha Briggs was born and raised in Leeds, UK, where she worked as a Firefighter. She was always active in sports growing up and competed at a high amateur level in soccer, rugby, and triathlons. Starting CrossFit in 2009, Samantha experienced success fairly quickly and was competing on the world circuit while still working full time.  At an age most declared too old, she took the risk of resigning from firefighting and going all in to become a professional athlete at 31! The risk paid off and she became world champion in 2013.  Sam spent the next decade traveling the world and still competing at the highest level despite injury setbacks.  She retired from individual competition in 2022 and went back to her first passion, firefighting.  People convinced her that she should compete in the Masters this year and with determination and hard work, Sam placed 1^st in the 2023 CrossFit Games in the Women 40-44 division.
